So many links to add today. I guess it comes from not updating too regularly. Last week was a bit frantic and the last entry was a quick typing episode. Section and site updates...

Kant Yet

I have put a page online about the Kant Generator Pro to Kant Generator X development;

The MLTE SDK stuff isn't just an acronym. It is something I discovered having done the hard yards with the TextEdit conversion. Doing two developments at the same time after hours presents a number of challenges. But there is good symbiosis too. When I get bored or in a seeming paradox with one, I can flit to the other.

Noble Screenshots

Breaking the promise not to put trivial screenshots online, I have put two relatively trivial screenshots online. The internal development is often about memory management or adjusting hues. The hues shouldn't be laughed at actually. I had to correct the screenshot code on a hue point. In any case, here is the link to the Noble Warfare website.

eBay to Drool

I have listed a few groups of miniatures on eBay. I like getting emails from miniature collectors. Serious miniature collectors. Recently I have pointed out a trick that a web hacker may have already found. The Fred Reed archive can be accessed in directory form.

One final note.

No Majesty

Regular readers of the log will remember my order of the Nine Majesty Mixtape in April. It still hasn't arrived. In fact the correspondence has dried up totally. So I guess I am sponsoring Nine Majesty as I'm not holding my breath about receiving the CD.

Good night.

Quite a busy weekend of doing things and code editing. I ported the classic Mac Classic text editor Mini/BuggyEdit to Carbon as part of the Kant Generator for Mac OS X development. Actually I cut it down to just the TextEdit part and left the file and print handling for a little later. I have put some text to the Kant Generator web page although there is a bit more to write and spit polish.

In other news, I saw American Splendor today. Any film that contains a ten minute narrative about Revenge of the Nerds vs poor nerds has to have some merit. I thought it would be more tired than it was. The Crumb influence was great and the cut away of the real people vs the characters was also quite funny. My wife got something out of it too. A hopeful film. I bought the American Splendor book of the film about six weeks ago, so I knew what to expect. But it was good to see it on the small screen.

I finish the night with another Fred Reed masterpiece.

New on old. Good night.

I rarely give props to WeFunk shows anymore. But Show 333 made my day. The triple sample moment from Masta Ace was just the right pace. I must admit, I have missed Masta Ace's lyrical skills. Anyone who raps about Mad magazine has my street cred vote.

Noble Warfare is at the stage, with a reliable army editor, that it is getting fun. It is on the cusp of releasing it as a development version for the hardcore. But it needs some colour. Good night.

I got an email from my mother today, a regular reader of Barbalet's Log, asking what this Noble Warfare thing was and why I was spending so much time on it. I directed her to this page;

http://www.noblewarfare.com/man/background.html

Which explains a little more about it. I am currently expanding the file format to include types of units. This came from looking at the files and realising that putting every bit of information per unit was a waste of space. Most units are of a smaller number of types. Why not define some types and get the units to correspond to their type. Smaller files, less memory too.

Got quite a few emails today from Fred Reed. Regulars to the log may remember the US Orcs?

Well, five months on, Fred Reed has completed the first unit.

Fred and I were having a chuckle over email about the speed of painting. Actually I think it is more about the volume of work Fred gets. A large portion from me.

In conclusion, from my reading on MagWeb, I have been looking for reader sites or sites from participants. This one is the current top scorer. It has everything including game photos. Hats off!

Good night.
