Cats, Karma and Coming Back...

I was typing with Mridul P this afternoon about reincarnation. My two questions about reincarnation were;

(1) Did believing in reincarnation lend itself to owning pets?

(2) What is the order of reincarnation? (What defines what you come back as?)

Whilst Mridul was responding to question (1), Luna decided she needed to point out the karma benefits of pet ownership.

Mridul doesn't have pets. My thinking was that keeping pets not only allowed you to provide the best possible environment for a soul but also to learn from the soul. I learned heaps from Charlie and Luna.

The rules of reincarnation were not simple either. It seemed that based on your karma there were two popular schools of thought, one which said that based on your karma you would be reincarnated based on your natural desires which you expressed somehow through your life and the other school of thought said karma had nothing to do with it. This was the summary Mridul gave.

Walking for the Inner Nerd

An announcement came through the Las Vegas Gamers Club that a local store had opened.

Thanks to a very optimistic Google Maps image, I assumed it was two city blocks across and one down. It turned out to be four blocks across and two blocks down. About an hour walk. I walked to Hosehead yesterday and today, although I only stayed for about an hour today, the walk was wonderful. I stayed for about six hours yesterday. Very clearing to watch Orks and Space Marines wandering towards each other over about three hours.

Good to see Nick Tompkins again too.

My life is pretty far removed from toy soldiers currently. I pulled together a dedicated and linked Fred Reed images used on Barbalet's Log;

Wandering through the links, I found some new WWII 54mm moulds from Prince August;

The European Campaign figures look okay - at least the Germans and the Americans. Alienstar has WWII rules;

I looked through them. Interesting thinking about wargaming rules again - components of probability and perceived control over that probability.

Time to write some of the mailout. Not a lot to write about bar some musing on the threading changes and the update ApeScript changes.

Good night.

Lucid Montreal

Another Friday night tuned into WeFunk... I had a lucid dream about traveling to Montreal last night. I haven't had a going to Montreal dream for a number of months. This one was so lucid, I had included some of my poor sketches to fill the blanks.

I arrived in Montreal one evening and I had to interpolate from my cellphone and location to find the variety of Montreal folk included in my Log regulars.

I found myself staying at the Montreal YMCA which was a series of concentric floors with inner terrace walkways between the rooms and the stairs. As you left your room you could look down into the main foyer and the various people trying to get rooms and complaining.

The sky was gray throughout the entire dream. It had almost a South American feel to it. Very high - the clouds covered the city.

The Montreal of my dream was a city on one half of a snow capped mountain. I have a sense of Montreal architecture thanks to looking up Montreal real estate when I lived in the UK. This was interpolated throughout the dream.

The dream ended with me and Professor Groove having a meal looking out over the cable cars going down the other side of the mountain.

Suddenly one of the cables snapped and a cable car disappeared off into the mist. At that point I woke up. The total dream would have been more than forty minutes. When I have lucid dreams, I like to explore the environment. So most of the dream was me walking around the dream Montreal trying to get various people's cell phone numbers and establish when they would be free for a meal.

Good night.
