I'm learning to have fun with biota.org. This page isn't technically *live* yet, I'm waiting on Joe's head shot (currently a broken);

Following the interview of Dave Kerr;

I should point out that I'm not avoiding old-timer Alife interviews through the site. I just wanted to get some newer faces interviewed before tackling Dawkins, Grand, et al. From earlier experiences it seems to be easier to get newer interviews. The irony, the likes of Dave Kerr have been developing Alife for at least six years.

Joe's interview ties in with my exploration of the new Danger Doom Sofa King track played on last week's WeFunk.

http://www.adultswim.com/downloads/

Danger is DJ Danger Mouse of Beatles/JayZ G Album fame. Doom is MF Doom of many rap colab tracks. Danger Mouse could mix the sounds of small children screaming in a supermarket and it would be listen-able. The man's a genius.

I knew nothing about Adult Swim. It seems to tie heavily with Patton Oswalt too. American Nerd culture - it doesn't come to me too well. Although I am reminded that I have never been able to resolve my own views into any connection to a political party.

Maybe I just need to become a disenchanted armed nerd.

Good afternoon.

Last year I did a top ten of sections from the Log. But it's been a slow year and aside from moving back to the US and a whole pile of Noble Ape related stuff, including the last mailout, there hasn't really been all that much. I have watched a bit of late night television on Comedy Central though. So from their clips online, I have assembled my top 10 favourite clips from Comedy Central, that I have seen, that are available online from the latter part of this year when we had cable in Las Vegas. (Broadband required, these are videos people!)

1. Cartman on Hippies

2. Mencia's Renaissance Faire

3. Daily Show - McCain Hulk

4. South Park Time Relic

5. Ginger Cartman

6. Ginger Pride

7. English the Mencia Way

8. Steve-O Greenroom

9. Too Late with Steve-O

10. Cops meets Fantasy

I didn't see the last one. I'm just a fan of Patton Oswalt.

Good afternoon.

I found a media source for the Kerry Packer tax recollection.

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2005/12/27/1135445573348.html

$1 billion is about fifty bucks per Australian. Fifty two if you count his personal tax too. Assuming that he got away with roughly double this in his lifetime (somewhat conservatively), I wonder what Australia would have been like if Packer had paid tax...

In my second follow-up for this entry...

Tim Shell wants you dead... or at least 80% of you...

I'm pleased to say that Barbalet's Log is climbing the Google ranking for information on the illusive Wikipedia co-founder. Assuming it is the same Tim Shell, and there doesn't appear to be anyone else online using that name, the first actual post I could find authored by Tim Shell was on a UFO mailing list.

http://www.virtuallystrange.net/ufo/updates/2004/jun/m11-013.shtml

Tim Shell: In my humble opinion, the Earth could use a decent extinction event that kills off, oh, 4/5ths of the human population. That would be plenty to ensure survival of the civilization, but not leave too many that a guy couldn't get some elbow room.

Cathy Reason: Wow, 4/5 of the population, that sounds pretty impressive. It definitely beats that guy with the mustache, he only managed to off a few million.

Tim Shell: That's because he was crazy, and I'm not.

Whilst Googling me will find you Gurap rants about my life's work, me posting that the weblog phenomenon are actually a tiny number of vocal people leaving comments for their friends and... I think that's about it. You'd have to wonder about genocide being the first post you find about someone through Google.

I left out the full post. If this kinda stuff interests you, the link is above.

It's that time already...

End of the month, mailout writing time. This month I have written about four pages. I am going to cut it down to three pages with some savage editing. Stay tuned.

Good morning.
